ABSTRACT An experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of an herbal choline feed plant additive on the productive parameters and blood metabolites of finishing lambs. Forty male Hampshire × Suffolk lambs (initial body weight of 30.36±3.75 kg) were assigned according to a completely randomized design. Treatments consisted of dietary inclusion of the herbal additive BioCholine at 0, 3, 6, and 9 g/kg dry matter for 56 days. A linear response for herbal choline dose was observed for daily gain, final body weight, feed conversion, blood glucose, and blood phosphatidylcholine as herbal choline level was increased in the diet. Total protein, globulins, and low-density lipoproteins showed a quadratic effect, and there were no effects on intake, Longissimus...

Microbial Diversity: Relevance and Relationship Between Environmental Conservation And Human Health BABT
Panizzon,Jeremias Pakulski; Pilz Júnior,Harry Luiz; Knaak,Neiva; Ramos,Renata Cristina; Ziegler,Denize Righetto; Fiuza,Lidia Mariana.
This work presents bibliographic data on the role and function of microbial diversity. The increasing use of probiotics and prebiotics foods has led to the studies on their actual functions in the human body. It is known that in the environment, microorganisms are extremely important in recycling of nutrients, balance of trophic chains, vital physiological activities in the plants and animals, as well as the conservation of natural habitats. In human food, these microscopic organisms contribute from flavoring products to the synthesis of antimicrobial substances and vitamins essential to living beings.

Consumption of fruits and vegetables provides natural antioxidants in the human diet that are capable of preventing diseases resulting from the action of free radicals. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the effect of organic nutrient solutions on the nutraceutical quality of hydroponic cantaloupe melon (Cucumis melo L.) produced under greenhouse conditions. The applied organic solutions consisted of compost and vermicompost teas and vermicompost leachate, while Steiner nutrient solution was used as a control. Analytical tests were run to determine the antioxidant capacity and total phenolic content of the melon fruits. The nutraceutical quality (antioxidant capacity and phenolic content) of the fruits fertilized with the organic solutions was...

Rice genetic utilization in terms of health product development that could draw up public attention is a significant scheme for rice genetic conservation particularly for traditional varieties. There are two levels of utilization; local and high-end level. Luempua is a traditional dark-purple traditional rice variety that undergone the study and development of health products for the local community level during 2011-2013 aiming for at least 1 easy to do product prototype each year. However, towards the end of the study, 16 food, desert, bakery and drink recipes were developed. Those with potential to be commercialized were analyzed in terms of total anthocyanin, one of the major antioxidant. This included cookie (28.20 mg Ascorbic acid/100 g), cake (12.09...
